Venture Eco/Perseverance Challenge
April 20  Midnight at John Zink Gate

Participation by Boy Scout Troops will be age appropriate.  Some Venture activities (night canoeing) will be done by Boy Scouts after dawn.  Unit leaders should consider that a 10 mile hike starting at midnight may not be appropriate for younger Boy Scouts.  Units may arrange to put those boys directly into the camps.  Units are responsible for Two Deep Leadership for their own members.

Schedule calls for 10 mile hike starting at midnight Friday.  Leaders can drive gear to the waterfront or to Troop camping spots and be shuttled back to join their units en route.  Venturers will paddle canoes to island in dark.  Boy Scouts will rest till dawn before canoeing.  There will be climbing and rappelling on the island, and Breakfast at 8 am.

There will be a sunrise service on the island Saturday.  Troops are encouraged to have their own observances on the mainland.

Water/canoe and land nav compass courses will be laid out for units to use as they choose on Saturday.  Maps provided but bring your own compasses.

Lunch will be back on the mainland at 1:30 pm Saturday.

Admission is $10 per head.  Each Scoutmaster/Crew Advisor must certify that unit members meet the Guide to Safe Scouting requirements for canoeing or else unit members will be restricted to the mainland.

$10 Admission entitles each person to a map, whistle, chem. light, breakfast and lunch.  Water and sanitary facilities are not available on the island so plan accordingly.  Pack for weather.

Please preregister by units by e-mailing BLWALT6884@cox.net, with unit #, number attending, and contact person information.  Or call Scout Service Center for Scott Banner (918) 743-6125.

All leaders are encouraged to attend the March 22 Venture Roundtable at Asbury United Methodist, 68th and Mingo, 7 pm.

In case of possible cancellation due to weather, call the Venture No Go Line at 392-1279, for last minute updates.

Not bad ideas! Css would definately help speed up the page a lot! This is something that we can focus on in our next meeting. If you are ok with this, I would like to put you in charge of checking the pages for validity. I know there are a lot of minor coding issues going on the site but none of them make the sites inviewable at this time. Let me know what you think. If you are websavy enough to start this I can give you access at this time to update the sites at your leisure... Just let me know... and we can have a quick online meeting or telephone conference to get you access and I can walk you through some of the sites...

You should aim to have w3c standards compliance. XHTML and CSS also wouldn't be bad to use.
